The Engagement

Date: It's difficult to say exactly when this happened, it was a process, but we had been together for around 2 1/2 years when we decided to tie the knot.

Can you say geeky?

[Julie's version] I was sitting on the couch one evening and we were both on our computers (not unusual for a couple of geeks). The back of Mark's computer screen was facing me.

I wondered if he had received my previous email so I leaned over the top of his screen and said "What ya looking at?" There on the screen were engagement rings. Up until that moment Mark maintained that he never wanted to marry again. He said "you saw that didn't you?" I couldn't deny it. He asked what I thought about getting married. I told him that he knew darn well how she felt about him and would marry him without a ring. But oh, no . . . he would make sure there was a ring. "So?" he asked "What do you think? Would you marry me?" I responded "I don't know - I haven't seen the ring yet."

[Mark's version] exactly the same except he swears that Julie did contortions to lean over his computer and see the screen.

Mark researched diamonds and bought this beautiful stone I now wear. We shopped for the setting together to find the perfect rings for our taste and lifestyle. Mark's ring is two-tone with a center design. This whole process took about 5 months. When we finally got the engagement ring, Mark put it on my finger and told me I was his best friend and asked me to marry him. I, of course, answered "YES!"
